Pied Nu is a thoughtfully edited fashion and lifestyle boutique offering a unique mix of independent and emerging designers from around the world. Pied Nu, meaning barefoot in French, embodies an effortless and easeful spirit—one that celebrates comfort and imparts confidence, without compromising style. We believe in helping our clients cultivate their unique personal style and our hope is that they leave Pied Nu with not only special pieces but also feeling like the best version of themselves.
Established in 1993 on Magazine Street, in the heart of one of New Orleans’ most sought-after shopping blocks, Pied Nu has become known for its artfully selected fashion and lifestyle wares. Azita Clark took over ownership of the boutique in 2010 after having been a loyal Pied Nu customer herself. She has since used her intuitive eye to build a coveted selection of both established and emerging independent designers. For nearly a decade, she has guided Pied Nu’s evolution from a hidden gem boutique featuring mostly home décor, furniture and a small apparel offering, to one of New Orleans’ premier boutiques. After years of listening to her customers’ feedback—Azita launched plans in 2016 for a renovation what would highlight a wider array of contemporary and luxury apparel and accessories. Completed late summer 2017, the redesign reflects a new era for Pied Nu—one that aims to evolve with its customers while remaining true to its original mission of being a destination for effortless everyday style.
Pied Nu supports an eclectic assortment of mostly independent female designers as well as women-led and operated brands. From well-known labels to lesser-known designers, the boutique showcases contemporary clothing, accessories and apothecary. The collections, available in-store and online, feature brands that value a unique point of view, quality, craftmanship as well as an ecologically and ethically-minded ethos. The designers we carry embody our emphasis on quality, care, craftsmanship, and sustainability.
Mother-daughter duo Azita Clark and Gabriella Mioton are the foundation of Pied Nu’s personalized approach to fashion. Whether it’s bringing together interesting designers or providing customer service tailored to your unique needs, Azita and Gabriella have cultivated a community of likeminded designers and clients who share in their appreciation for individuality, quality and comfort.
Pied Nu owner Azita Clark has spent most of her life in New Orleans running businesses in the service industry before deciding to shift gears toward fashion retail. As an ardent lover of fashion, she stays up to date with the latest styles by going to market in New York and Europe several times a year to discover new designers and reconnect with those she’s long supported. Customers will find Azita’s touch throughout the store—especially in pieces that feature distinctive prints and silhouettes while evoking a spirit of understated chic. Her eye has been a trusted beacon of style for the Pied Nu community over the last decade. Pied Nu draws upon Azita’s passion for finding unexpected pieces that allow you to look, and feel, like the best version of yourself.
Gabriella Mioton, joined Pied Nu in May 2018 as the store director after years of working at the boutique in a part-time capacity. The eldest daughter of owner Azita Clark, she credits her fashion-forward mother for sparking her interest in the field. With experience in graphic design and interior design, Gabriella appreciates that fashion can be a powerful medium for self and creative expression. She loves that Pied Nu remains a woman-owned and operated business championing other independent female designers and women-led brands. Her passion for helping clients with warm, customized service has become a defining aspect of the Pied Nu shopping experience—one that adapts to each customer’s unique needs, style and taste.
